How can I maintain good mental health and emotional well-being?
In today’s world, it is not easy.
Ten years ago the main pressure was that of parents, then it became peers, now it is parents, peers, then role models through advertising and then strangers via social media. So now it’s all of them.
Everybody is telling everybody their version of truth, their version of success, their version of right and wrong - so what do you do?
Social Media: Curtail your exposure to social media to the minimum and choose carefully when, what and how much you wished to be exposed too.
Your Benchmarks: Decide what you want to be and who you want to be. Create your own benchmarks for success and live by them. Remember Failure is a stepping stone, some meet it early and some later in life - Don’t get attached to failure. Like the Johnny Walker Logo “Keep Walking”
Relationships: This is perhaps the most important aspect for mental health
Parents: Good or bad, 99.9% love you unconditionally, no one ever taught them how to be parents. Return their love in anyway you know how. Remember, they are your foundation, you were made from them, literally. More than love respect is important. For some reason being rude to parents is in vogue, probably the result of TV serials influence
Special friends / Spouses: How difficult is it to communicate ? How difficult is it to sit down and agree on new revised roles, that are different from those of your parents? Not difficult but very few do it.
Keeping your inner circle relationships in order is the most important Journey and the key to mental well being.
